India and Bahrain signed Agreements to expand Cooperation in Key Areas




India and Bahrain on 19 February 2014 signed three agreements in New Delhi during the state visit of Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Kingdom of Bahrain to India. The two sides signed the agreements with a decision to expand their cooperation in key areas that includes trade and business.
The agreements were signed in the presence of Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister of India and King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

This new MoU will replace the existing Joint Committee for the Technical and Economic Cooperation (established in 1981) by High Joint Commission, to be chaired by the Foreign Ministers, and will serve as an umbrella framework for all bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The MoU aims at promoting cooperation between the FSI and the Diplomatic Institute, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, including exchange of information on structure and content of training programmes, exchange of trainees, students, faculty members, experts and researchers.

The agreements were signed after delegation-level talks between the two leaders. The two leaders also reviewed the bilateral trade and agreed to boost economic cooperation in different sectors. Bahrain has looked forward for investments in their country by Indian firms in various sectors.
